Latina Beach Poncho Care Guide: Keep It Fresh, Soft & Ready to Roll
Your Latina Beach towel poncho is way more than something you chuck on after a surf. It’s a core part of your ocean lifestyle. Your portable change room, your trusty beach sidekick, your cosy layer on a breezy arvo, and your grab-and-go essential for those spontaneous missions.
From both sides of the journey — as beach lovers and as the hands behind the brand — we see each poncho as a piece made with love. Designed to last, crafted with care, and built to follow you through years of salty mornings, sunset dips, road trips, and travel adventures. With the right care, your poncho will stay soft, vibrant, and looking mint session after session.
Some of these care tips are easy habits you can build into your daily routine, while others are simple maintenance steps worth doing every now and then to extend the life of your poncho.
1. Rinse Off the Salt & Sand
Salt, sunscreen, and sand are the biggest enemies of towel fibres. Left too long, they can slowly wear your poncho down — but a little care goes a long way.
Shake it out first
Before folding or washing, give your poncho a good shake to remove as much dry sand as possible.
Fresh water rinse
Once you’re home, rinse your poncho with cool, fresh water. This helps dissolve salt crystals that can make fibres stiff and cause long-term damage.
Never leave it wet
Always let your poncho air-dry completely before packing it away. A quick rinse and proper dry will help prevent mildew, funky smells, and fabric breakdown.
2. Wash It on a Gentle Cycle
To keep the fabric soft, the stitching strong, and the colours looking fresh:
Cold water only
Wash in cold water or a maximum of 30°C.
Gentle cycle
Use a gentle or delicate cycle to protect the terry loops and overall structure.
Separate your wash
Wash with similar colours and avoid items with zips, Velcro, or rough fabrics — these can snag the towel and cause unnecessary wear.
